Kew East

This project involved the transformation of a 100-year-old Art Deco residence protected by a heritage overlay. Purchased by our clients during Covid, this charming home gave us the gift of time to thoughtfully plan every detail. With original features woven throughout, we introduced colour, texture and functional design to create a unique style and elevated living tailored to our clients’ needs..

The build required significant demolition of the original construction to allow for a new open plan layout, creating generous, light-filled spaces that form the heart of the home.

A new grand entrance stairway became a defining element of the home, it provides a solid, permanent foundation and sets the tone for the level of detail carried throughout.

The interior showcases a rich material palette. High end 2pac joinery, solid brass hardware and wool carpet are paired with oak herringbone floors, Italian terrazzo and natural stone tiles. Granite benchtops in the kitchen and bar areas sit alongside custom steel doors, feature lighting and hydronic heating, contributing to a home built for long-term performance.

We worked closely with the original design features, referencing the new spaces to the original ceiling roses and cornices so that every junction between old and is cohesive and intentional.

The result is a home that balances its heritage roots with a contemporary build, offering spaces designed for family life.

Construction was completed by Eltcon.
